Broken Phone

25th October

So if you’re thinking there’s a crazy story to this, a big night out, a drunken rage or something like that, then you are very very wrong.

No this wasn’t the result of any of the above, simply enough it happened to me by just falling onto the floor from a cushion on the couch. Basically a 30 – 40cm drop and voila! Cracked screen!

So guys, dont take it for granted. If you don’t want this happening to your phone, I suggest you come through to Konzepp (“insert shameless plug”) and pick yourself up a brand new phone case! Something I will definitely be doing.

kicokids on lovely kids .

25th July

Kicokids is a charming children’s wear collection that was born of love and nostalgia. In 2003, Tia Cibani (a.k.a. Kico), founder and Creative Director, decided to express her love for the little ones in her life through a collection of cuddly knits. The result? A cohesive collection of pullovers, cardigans, dresses, skirts and more. As the fan club grew, Shu Pu (a.k.a. Kitty) joined as a partner, and what started as a hobby expanded into a complete collection of knits and wovens, as well as accessories and fun lifestyle products. kicokids is a collection full of treasures and details that does not compromise function, comfort, and fun.

Having previously collaborated on a women’s high-end collection, Tia and Kitty share a passion for fashion. Tia initially launched kicokids in reference to nostalgia, innocence, and “the good old days” of childhood. Kitty brings with her a complimentary … Read More »

Conversation from SouZouCreations.

What inspired you to make these rings?

They are the combination of my love of food (who doesn’t love food?), my love of making things and my love of unique rings! Plastic food is really popular here in Japan so when I first saw these tiny little food replicas that only the Japanese could do so well, I had an “ah-ha!” moment and combining these ideas just came to me.

How do you make these amazing creations?

It’s a Labour of Love believe me! I start by looking at the pieces I have in front me…the wood that I painted, the dishes, and the various pieces of miniature plastic food, and then I start putting them together to see what works. So, for example, if I’m making one of my ice cream or mousse rings, after filling the … Read More »

BOH TEAS .

21st June

More than 5000ft above sea level, on the main mountain range of Malaysia, is one of the most fertile agricultural spots in the country: Cameron Highlands.

Nicknamed ‘Malaysia’s Green Bowl’, the highlands possess all the right attributes of prime cropland – moderate temperatures, high altitude, abundant rainfall, long hours of sunshine and well-drained soil.

These features were not lost on J.A. Russell, an established businessman who owned substantial tin and rubber investments in Malaya during the early 1900s. A man of keen business acumen, J.A. noticed that the demand for high quality tea remained high even during slumps.

So in 1929, J.A. established Boh Tea Garden, the country’s first highland tea garden in Cameron Highlands. Today, BOH Plantations owns two more tea gardens in Cameron Highlands: Fairlie and Sungei Palas.

Tea is very much like … Read More »

Senz Umbrellas

27th May

senz° was born out of pure frustration with traditional umbrellas. You’re probably very familiar with all of the well known umbrella struggles yourself: Umbrellas go inside-out, break, poke you in the eye, limit your visibility, don’t protect your back, etc. Today, some 3400 years after its invention in Egypt, the umbrellas is basically regarded as a necessary evil that everybody all over the world dislikes.

The story of senz° goes back to the fall of 2004, when a young and naïve Industrial Design Engineering student, Gerwin Hoogendoorn, experienced one week in which three of his umbrellas broke down. Being sick and tired of the massive amount of crappy umbrellas, he decided to devote his graduation project to designing the ultimate umbrella: One design that resolves all of those nasty umbrella frustrations.

Up in the Air .

3rd May

Up in the Air Somewhere is Chicago-based artist and designer Susan Dwyer. Three years after graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she focused in sculpture, Dwyer began creating a line of ceramic and papier-mâché vessels inspired by the clean, minimal lines found in industrial architecture. The silos, warehouses and watertowers that dot the Chicago landscape are transformed into elegant vases, votives and planters. Because they are individually hand-built without the use of molds, every vessel has its own organic, one-of-a-kind character.

Skinny Vinny – Factory (Homme) from Satan’s Pearl Horses on Vimeo.

Skinny Vinny is a Brooklyn based studio and workshop that creates functional products bringing forth a sense of urban sophistication with tailored craftsmanship. A no-fuss everyday product that is enjoyed with ease. Our products are designed and made by a small family of artisans in a small and intimate studio. Skinny Vinny bags are crafted using architectural and geometrical shapes along with little details like hidden pockets and contrasting trim colors. The collection stresses clean lines and proportions. The bags are to be comfortable when carried as well as comfortable to the eye. Quality and individual variation is guaranteed.
